HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised for a Maldon based charity at a fun, festive-themed event.
A Santa fun run took place in Maldon Promenade Park on Sunday, December 10, in aid of the David Randall Foundation.
The foundation wanted to “give back to the community” by making entries to take part in the run free, and included a Santa suit for each runner.
The 5km Santa fun run and 3km reindeer run and treasure hunt was a big success, with more than 250 runners signed up.
The park was filled with eager participants who made their own additions to the Santa costumes.
The charity has thanked all the organisations which helped bring the run together, as well as the hundreds who took part.
The David Randall Foundation celebrated its 11th birthday this year.
The charity is run entirely by volunteers, with the aim of helping people with life limiting conditions to still experience "good days".
Days out which families have experienced with the help of the charity include zoo days, watching live football matches, going to the theatre and visits to Legoland.
More than 250 people have benefited from such experiences which improve their quality of life.
The charity also helps to provide scholarships and inspirational awards to people who “demonstrate exceptional dedication and passion in pursuing their ambitions in sport or music but may be held back by their financial situation.”
More than 20 major scholarships and inspirational awards have been given.
