AN initiative has been launched with the aim of making a big difference to children and families in the area.

The community champion at Morrisons Maldon has set up a community giving tree to raise money for Home Start Essex.

The giving tree contains baubles worth £1, £2 or £5, which can be scanned at the checkout, with the money going to the charity.

Home Start Essex, based in the Maldon District Council offices, is an independent charity which supports families and young children through tough times.

The main aim of the charity is to provide high-quality, family-led services to help families during their time of need.

The charity works with families across mid, south and west Essex, and offers a range of support, including home-visiting support, family groups, wellbeing services, telephone support, behavioural support and more.

A spokesman for Home Start said: “Huge thanks to our incredible community champion, Kathy, for leading this initiative on our behalf.

“Kathy always goes the extra mile to support us, and with your generosity, we can make a real difference in the lives of local children and families.

“Let's make this festive season a celebration of giving and community spirit.”
