DONATIONS can be made to help spread the joy of Christmas to families struggling with the cost of living in Maldon.

The Maldon District Council offices have become a donation point for the Salvation Army Christmas Gift Appeal.

Last year the Salvation Army distributed more than 76,000 gifts with the help of donations across the UK.

The charity will be collecting donated presents until mid-December. It is looking for new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children who might not otherwise receive a present this Christmas.

Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council said: "I am pleased that we are able to add the Council Offices to the list of donation points for the Salvation Army Christmas gift appeal this year.

“Donating a gift is a meaningful way to spread a little joy to Children across the district this Christmas.

“I hope the convenience of being able to drop off donations at the Council Offices in Princes Road between 9am and 4pm on weekdays, will make it easier for residents to contribute to this meaningful cause.

“I am sure that our residents will show just what a great sense of community spirit and generosity we have in the district.”

If you'd like to donate any gifts to the appeal, please pop in to the council offices between 9am and 4pm on Monday to Friday.
