A VETERAN landlord who has been pulling pints at the same pub for more than two decades has received a long service award.

Dominic Davies has celebrated his 21st anniversary as licensee of the Chequers in Goldhanger.

Now the Maldon and Dengie branch of the Campaign For Real Ale has celebrated the milestone by presenting Dominic with a special long service award.

CAMRA chairman James Burrell-Cook said: “In this day and age, when publicans come and go so quickly, 21 years is a real achievement.

"It is always a pleasure to visit this historic village pub.

!It has a superb ambience, a friendly atmosphere, well-kept beers and truly excellent home-cooked food.

"This award for long service is richly deserved. Dominic has ensured that the Chequers Inn plays a full part in the social life of Goldhanger and the surrounding area.”

Dominic said: “I’m very proud to receive this special award from CAMRA.

"It has been an absolute pleasure and honour to run the Chequers and meet all the great people I've encountered over the years.”
