A MALDON resident suffering from dementia has been given a truly special day thanks to a charity.

Patrick, age 65, a resident of Longfield Care home, in Fambridge Close, Maldon, has spent the day living out his dreams.

Thanks to Dementia Adventure, an organisation that supports people who live with dementia by facilitating breaks and day trips, Patrick spent a day making memories with wife Jenny.

On the big day, Patrick was thrilled to visit Southend United FC, and was able to look around the stadium and even walk out on to the pitch.

The action-packed day also included a stop at Rossi’s ice cream shop in Western Esplanade, Westcliff, then a tasty lunch time treat at a fish and chip restaurant overlooking the River Thames, and a drive along the seafront to visit Patrick’s old neighbours, Pam and Brian.

A spokesman for Excelcare, which owns the care home, said: “Seeing all the wonderful things Dementia Adventure does, Patrick’s wife Jenny reached out to the company to see if they could help to make her husband’s dreams come true and facilitate a day trip like no other.

“A few weeks later, the company said they would love to support and began arranging a day that Patrick would remember forever.”
