A NEW art exhibition about prominent Burnham figures will be taking place in the town next week.

Created by artist Henry Davis, the 'Burnham and I' exhibition is a series of portraits that convey unspoken yet emotional narratives.

Each piece features four Burnham characters of the past and two from the present, with the figures pictured in their own silent world, offering a glimpse into their personal and private thoughts and emotions.

The pictures, taken by Alan Powdrill, will be on show from October 13 to October 15, at the Royal Burnham Yacht Club.

Davis has also provided an audio commentary narrated by well-known actor, Sid Livingstone, who tells us more about each of these highly personal representations.

The titles of each portrait are inspired by local place names, objects and people closely linked to Burnham’s history, but the photos provide a modern and personal twist on their titles.

Henry Davis said: “Burnham seduced me – moving here was not something I planned or foresaw.

"My practice is concerned with identity and how my environment affects the complex and ever-changing construct of identity, including experience, thoughts, feelings and behaviors, but in this case, it is about those that came before, the historical archetypes who lived in the area - my new home.

"I can’t help wondering was I looking for a new me, an alternative self as well as a place to live. My latest work has connected me with the history and myths of my new hometown and consequently, I feel more connected to myself.”
