CELEBRATIONS were held after tearooms across Essex came together to raise more than £1,000 for charity.

The team from The View at Osea, one of the Tiptree tearooms, met up with Laura Gasson from British Heart Foundation (BHF) at the Blackwater Estuary.

Tiptree tearooms across Essex took part in fundraising events on National Cream Day this summer.

Staff and customers from tea rooms in Dedham, Osea, Heybridge, Chelmsford, Billericay, Tiptree, Cressing, Writtle and Saffron Walden, as well as Southwold contributed.

During the meetup, the news was shared that the total amount raised was a huge £1,293.

Ms Grayson, who is the area fundraiser for the BHF, said: “Thank you to the staff and customers who took part in National Cream Tea Day. Around 200,000 people in Essex are living with heart and circulatory diseases.

“Your support is helping fund scientific breakthroughs that can save and improve the lives of millions suffering from heart and circulatory diseases.

“The British Heart Foundation was the charity chosen by staff this year, for some very special reasons,” said Aimee Snith, marketing manager for the Tiptree tearooms.

“We look forward to working with Laura on a new skills project for our staff in the autumn.”
