RESIDENTS are being invited to a coffee morning tradition to raise money for a good cause following the loss of the town's former Mayor.

Maldon mayor Andrew Lay has invited residents to take part in a Macmillan coffee morning at Maldon Town Hall.

The charity event raised £573.75 for Macmillan in 2022 with the help of residents’ donations.

Small donations are requested for refreshments, all of which will directly benefit the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity.

Mr Lay said: “Following the success of last year’s Macmillan coffee morning held at the town hall, I am pleased to be supporting this worthwhile cause again.

“It was wonderful to see so many residents pop into the town hall to help raise funds and deliver cake donations.

“The people of Maldon town are very generous, and I hope that we can raise more than last year.

“This is a cause that is personal to me and Maldon Town Council as we lost our dear friend and former mayor, Councillor David Ogg, last year.

“I look forward to meeting people on the day and enjoying their company over a cup of tea and cake.”

The charity event will take place on September 29 from 10am until 12noon at Maldon Town Hall in Market Hill.
