A POPULAR event brought crowds of visitors together to enjoy displays of historic vehicles.
The Maldon Armed Forces Day was a success in the town's Promenade Park at the weekend.
Despite issues with the Merlin engines stopping the much-anticipated plane flypast, it was still a busy day for the Essex Historic Military Vehicle Association.
The fleet of planes were grounded for all Armed Forces Day celebrations and were still able to be admired from eye level.
Members of Maldon District Council and Maldon Town Council were in attendance at the event, where they met local cadets and members of the local veterans' breakfast clubs and the British Legion.
The veterans and cadets held a parade in honour of the day which celebrates men and women in the British Armed Forces.
They remembered the members of the armed forces who are no longer with us.
Colin Tebb, chairman of the Essex Historic Military Vehicle Association, said: “Today we honour the sacrifice of the brave men and women in our armed services.
“For those no longer with us, we hope we are helping to keep memories of them alive, for those who served, and are still serving, today marks our thanks for continuing to ensure our safety.
“I would also like to thank Maldon District Council for helping to make today possible, and to the people of Maldon for making the members of our charity so welcoming.”
