PEDESTRIAN crossings have been repainted at a supermarket in Maldon to celebrate Pride Month.

Maldon Tesco has repainted many of the zebra crossings on the site to support Pride Month and the LGBTQ+ community.

The crossings were opened on Monday, June 5 by store manager Stuart Dickinson, Maldon Town Mayor Andrew Lay and Tesco’s community champion Rhiain Oakley.

It wouldn’t have been possible without the contribution from Dan Wheelband from Maldon Tesco’s network department.

The supermarket has donated more than £500,000 to LGBTQ+ supporting charities in recent years and prides itself on being committed to creating an inclusive workplace that celebrates diversity.

Store manager Stuart Dickinson said: “I'm delighted to show our support for Pride and the LGBTQ+ community that shop with us and to highlight our support for these communities to all of our customers.

“The amazing work of Daniel Wheelband from Tesco’s Network Team and the in-house maintenance teams have made this all possible. A super job by all.”

Maldon’s Mayor Andrew Lay said: “It is a great honour to be invited to participate in the opening of the crossings recognising Pride and the contribution of the LGTBQ+ community.

“Congratulations to Dan, Stuart, Rhiain and the staff at Tesco Maldon for this initiative.”
