A ROTARY club has handed out £1,000 to a charity which supports children who have been diagnosed with a complex or incurable condition.

Maldon Rotary Club president Judy Smith presented a cheque for £1,000 to Aron Lane, a fundraiser for the Little Havens Children's Hospice.

Earlier Aron had described the work and care provided by the team of staff and volunteers for very ill children from all over Essex, together with their families and friends.

A spokesman from Maldon Rotary Club said: "The Little Heavens Hospice is a place where love and warmth seem to be part of this unique facility set in beautiful gardens.

"The light and airy building has just undergone a revamp after 25 years of service to the Essex community.

"After a short talk on the visit, members of the Maldon Rotary Club voted to send a further donation of £1,000 to further the work of this vital organisation."

Little Havens is based in Rayleigh, with a mixture of qualified paediatric nurses, healthcare support staff and trained volunteers who care for children and young people from Essex.
