A SPOOKY event is making its return to Maldon with even more haunting tales of the past.

The Maldon Ghost Walks are starting up again, with a season of unique events planned.

On the hour and a half walk around the town, participants will learn about the history of Maldon from host Andrew Steel.

This year aims to have newer and scarier stories than ever before, with people being warned the event is only fit for those with the bravest hearts.

A spokesman said: “Originally started in August 2012, Maldon Ghost Walks is the product of Drew Steel, who has lived around Maldon for most of his life.

“Now into their sixth year, the walks are again back with new and scarier stories than ever. With a haunting atmosphere and ghostly tales, you are invited to enter into the world of spooks and ghouls."

The walk is about 90 minutes long and suitable for all ages, but includes areas that may be poorly lit or uneven, and some areas may be difficult for disabled people to access.

The walks are on Saturdays at 7pm and will be held every week until the end of October, with a bonus walk on Tuesday, October 31.

To join in, meet outside All Saints' Church at 7pm.

Booking is not required. It costs £8 for adults, £4 for under-17s and is free for under-fives.

Payment can be made by cash or card on the day.
