A MONTHLY community event is set to create a safe environment for those needing extra help.

Community in a Cup is a joint project between Longfield Medical Centre and Maldon United Reformed Church.

Taking place on the last Tuesday of the month, the project offers help, information, fun and relaxing craft activities, free refreshments, a warm welcome and a listening ear.

Each monthly session has a different theme, this one being Easter.

Anyone in the community, regardless of which GP surgery they attend, who feels in need of cheering up or a little extra support is invited to attend.

As well as refreshments, crafts and time to chat, there will be specialist help and advice available from organisations.

Groups that are invited to attend the sessions are Parkinson’s UK, Moat Housing, United in Kind, Action for Family Carers, Citizen Advice, Maldon CVS, MacMillian, Community Agents, U3A, Carers First, Hearing Help Essex, Guide Dogs Essex, Home-Start Essex, Dengie Dart, Essex Fire and Rescue, Remap, Millbrook Healthcare, and police community support officers.

This month's session will be on March 28 at the Maldon United Reformed Church on Market Hill, Maldon.
