A DEFIBRILLATOR has been installed at a bowls club thanks to a large donation.

The Burnham Hillside Bowls Club has been able to get a defibrillator with the help of £650 funding from the Royal Burnham Masonic Lodge and the Corinthian Centenary Masonic Lodge.

The donation covered more than half the cost of the equipment.

The defibrillator can be used if a person suffers a cardiac arrest and can save their life.

A bowls club spokesman said: “We wish to express an extremely big thank you to the local Masons for providing a donation to the club towards the purchase of a defibrillator for the club.

“Specifically, our thanks go to the Corinthian Centenary Lodge who gave £500 and the Royal Burnham Lodge who gave £150 totalling £650 in all which covers over half the cost for such an important piece of equipment.

“Well done to the two lodges and keep the good work up.

"Tony Rowling a member of the Corinthian Centenary Lodge and a Burnham Hillside Bowls Club bowler originally approached the local Masons about the donation.

“He was presented with the cheque by his lodge. He then presented it to the bowls club’s president Joy Campbell.”
