A RESTAURANT is holding a fundraiser to support survivors of a deadly earthquake.

Sark restaurant in 102 High Street in Maldon is letting diners eat for free and for their money to go towards supporting people impacted by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Restaurant owner Sami Barli grew up in Elbistan in southern Turkey.

He wanted to host the fundraiser to help people in his home town and surrounding areas.

Maldon Spice in 111 High Street is also getting involved in the fundraising event at Sark restaurant.

Mr Barli said: “We are doing this fundraising for the earthquake that’s happened in my home town where I have grew up called Elbistan.

“I have started this fundraising for all the towns not just my home town.

“This is for all the people suffering from this earthquake.

“So on Sunday everybody is welcome to come and have a meal at Sark and they will not be charged and will be asked to give in a donation, drinks are not included.”

The fundraiser is on Sunday, February 12 from 12pm to closure.
