A VEHICLE was seized and a driver has been given points and fined for driving with no insurance.
Essex Police officers in the Maldon Town team were made aware of a vehicle parked illegally in the High Street.
Officers witnessed the car driving away and their check on the vehicle revealed it had no insurance.
The vehicle was seized by police, who said the driver can expect a £300 fine and six points on their licence.
Officers have reminded road users it is illegal to drive a vehicle on a public road without insurance.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We all know the rules. If you're driving a vehicle on a public road you need insurance.
“Uninsured drivers are a risk on our roads and in 2018, 26,000 people were injured on our roads due to an incident with an uninsured or untraced driver.

“It is an offence under the Road Traffic Act to be driving on a public road without insurance.
“𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 were alerted to a vehicle that was parked illegally on Maldon High Street.
“As the vehicle drove away, we conducted a check of the vehicle and it revealed that it had no insurance.
“As a result we have seized the vehicle and the driver can expect a £300 fine and six points on their licence.
“Please do not drive whilst uninsured. It is illegal.”
