A primary school has been given permission for a new extension by a council.

The front and rear extensions to All Saints' Primary School in Maldon will allow for existing classrooms to reconfigured and a new reception area to be built.

According to a planning report, the school accommodation and facilities will be improved as a result of the building, which would replace existing hardstanding at the Highlands Drive site.

Independent Maldon North councillor Stephen Nunn said at the planning meeting: “These single story extensions seem to be infill, with no loss of amenity at the sight or the playground.”

The extension at the front of the building would be visible from Highlands Drive, however it will not be taller than any of the existing buildings.

The proposals will match and complement the school, according to the report.
