A RESIDENTIAL road is set to close for five days for works by Essex County Council.

Lodge Lane, in Purleigh, will be closed from Thursday, February 2, while fire hydrant replacement works are carried out.

There are about 33,000 fire hydrants in the county which are maintained and tested on a rolling cycle.

Lodge Lane will be shut from a point about 390m south west of the junction with Chelmsford Road for a distance of approximately 165m in a north westerly direction.

An alternative route is available via Lodge Lane, Walton Hall Lane, Mill Hill, The Glebe, Pump Lane, Chelmsford Road and vice versa.
