A POPULAR Maldon Christmas event is set to bring festive joy to the town when it returns next month.

Organisers are promising this year's Maldon Christmas Fayre will be bigger and better than ever before.

Entertainment and stalls will be in the High Street for the event and the Christmas lights will be switched on to mark the start of the festive period.

The lights switched will take place at 5pm from the balcony of the Moot Hall.

There will be two DJs at each end of the street and 100 stalls are expected to fill the town.

This year marks the seventh year of Maldon town councillor Michael Pearlman’s chairmanship for the fair.

He said: “Each year it has brought thousands of people into the town to enjoy the stalls and entertainment.

“Along with the characters from Frozen, there will be amazing entertainment and of course Santa’s grotto which will be held in a special grotto in Brights Solicitors.

“The entertainment will be even bigger this year, with tribute acts on the stage outside All Saints church.

“There will be a DJ on the balcony of the Swan Pub and another one further down towards the Prom, as well as choirs and the Big Sing.

“The town mayor will be switching on the new display of Christmas lights at 5pm on the balcony of The Moot Hall.

“I would l like to make a special thank you to all the businesses that have supported the event by donating.

“There will be 100 stalls stretching from West Square to almost the Prom.

“This year will even bigger and better and can promise an amazing evening.”

The event is on Thursday, November 24 from 4pm until 9pm.

The High Street will be closed from 2pm on the day in preparation for the event.
