At the Autumn Leaves meeting held in the village hall on Wednesday, April 30, there were several apologies for absence.

Nora reported on the recent village hall AGM and displayed the balance sheet, also telling members that the new chairman for the village hall is now Mr Brian Olley, following the resignation of Mr Drew Stewart after he had completed quite a few years as chairman.

Paula Short then gave an interesting talk on her holiday in Vietnam and showed many slides. Birthday bags and cards were then distributed.

The competition for a pretty cup and saucer was won by Margaret Nicholas. Next month we are seeking out the prettiest locket for the competition. After a large raffle, a picnic hamper was auctioned and we closed the meeting with a very welcome cup of tea and biscuits. Our next meeting will take place in the hall on Wednesday, May 14.

JAZZERCISE

For cardio, strength and stretch go along to Jazzercise classes being held in the village hall on Thursday evenings between 6.15pm-7.10pm.

AID 2 AFRICA

Aid 2 Africa still urgently require donations of adults and children's clothing and shoes, bedding and soft toys. You can leave your donations either at 13 Barnhall Road or take them along to the village hall on a Wednesday evening between 7- 8pm. There are very many poor villages in Lesotho, the country in Africa which the organisers support so they need everything that you can spare.
