Purleigh Women's Institute meets on Thursday May 8 at 2.30pm when Hazel Ridgwell will lead the discussion and voting on the Resolutions for the annual meeting to be held in June. Mrs.
Joan McCallum will give a talk on her time in spent in the Women's Royal Naval Service.
The competition is for a favourite recipe or a household tip.
PURLEIGH PARISH COUNCIL
The next meeting is on Friday May 9 at 7.30pm in the Wells Pavilion. Councillors will be in attendance from 7.15pm if parishioners wish to discuss parish matters before the meeting starts.
RACE NIGHT
Purleigh Playing Field Association is holding a race night at 7.30pm on Friday May 9 at the Latchingdon Football Club to raise funds for the playing field and Purleigh village hall. Entry price is £6. Enquiries to Bernie Steeples 01621 828312.
FIRST BIRTHDAY
Purleigh Quilters Club marked its first birthday on Tuesday April 29 with a celebration cake at its meeting in the Wells Pavilion.
The meeting was held there as the village hall was being prepared for the Art Exhibition on the following weekend.
This club has been very successful under the leadership of Carol Smith and now has a waiting list of potential members, anyone wishing to add their name to the list should ring 01621 826988.
TRADITION MAINTAINED
Purleigh choir and friends followed the tradition of welcoming in the month of May with hymn singing from the top of All Saints Church tower; this was followed by breakfast in the warmth of the Cock Clarks Room.
