MALDON and Tiptree have parted company with boss Paul Abrahams.

The former Colchester United promotion hero has been relieved of his duties as Jammers boss, with immediate effect.

Maldon's 2-0 defeat to Hashtag United last night was their fifth successive defeat, a result that leaves them languishing bottom of the Pitching In Isthmian division north table.

Abrahams was placed in permanent charge of the Jammers this summer, after taking over on an interim basis in February following the appointment of Wayne Brown as Colchester's interim boss.

The former Brentford attacker had been at Park Drive for a number of season and almost guided the Jammers to an unlikely play-off spot, last season.

Maldon assistant manager and Colchester academy under-21 coach Liam Bailey has taken caretaker charge, following Abrahams' departure.

Maldon and Tiptree chairman Jerry Carter said: "Paul has worked tirelessly for the club and has certainly had his fair share of bad luck.

"I'm sad that Paul's tenure hasn't been a successful one and now we must look forward.

"I wish Paul and his family all the best for the future and thank him for everything he has given to the club."

In a statement, all of Maldon's volunteers and helpers have placed on record their thanks to Abrahams for his hard work, effort and commitment during his time as manager and assistant manager.

Bailey will be in caretaker charge of the Maldon side when they visit Brentwood Town, on Saturday.

He was previously the club's caretaker boss in the 2015-16 season when he took charge of one game, following David Wright's departure.
