Many thanks to Katy Gridley for organising the buying of the lilies in memory of loved ones at Easter, and for the two lovely arrangements she placed beside the alter.

There were 29 lilies in total and Katy displayed them beautifully.

And, of course, thank you to her mother May, who put all the cards on the ribbons.

USED POSTAGE STAMPS

I have received a letter from Farleigh Day Hospice in Heybridge thanking us for our extremely large collection of postage stamps.

In their letter they say that your support is greatly appreciated, and that the stamps will be sent to our distribution centre where they will be passed on, with the money they raise being given back to Farleigh. They go on to say that donations such as this, together with the help they receive from the marvellous volunteers, enables them to continue to care for patients and support their families when needed. And they extend their sincere and grateful thanks to you all.

THE PROMPT POLICE

June Hill cannot speak too highly of the police.

June, who lives in Church Road, sells eggs at the entrance to her property. Unfortunately, someone wanted them for free!

The letterbox where the purchasers put their money was broken into and damaged, with money and possibly some eggs taken. Probably about £5 was stolen, and there were no eggs left.

She immediately reported it to the police and said that she was so impressed as the police got back to her within just two minutes.

They said they were sending someone down to look at the crime scene. June said she is confident that the culprits do not come from this village.
