Members of the Autumn Leaves Club met in the village hall on the afternoon of Wednesday March 5.

Despite the fact that Factory Hill Road was being closed to traffic, members managed to get through.

Birthdays were remembers and also sick members Irene Brown in Colchester Hospital and Ethel Powell.

We were very well entertained during the afternoon by a group called Pat's People - their singing and music brought back many memories. They were so popular with members that they have been requested to make a return visit.

Jean Shead took names and gave out details of the forthcoming Easter lunch, which will be funded by the club.

There is to be an outing on April 23, with a coach tour via Manningtree and Mistley. A stop is to be made for a meal at Great Bardfield, which will kindly be provided by their WI.

Unfortunately, during the afternoon, a member was taken ill and the Essex Air Ambulance Paramedics were called out, landing on the playing field. However, she was deemed well enough to be able to return home.

Ken, our chairman, won the prize in the competition for the best fan.

A large raffle brought the meeting to a close, which was then followed by tea and biscuits.

At our next meeting, at 1.30pm on March 19, there will be an auction after lunch and the competition will be for the best paperweight.
