A VICTIM has had a “high-value” electric bike stolen after being threatened by two men at knifepoint.

Officers were called to Repton Close in Basildon at 1:30pm yesterday afternoon following reports of a knifepoint robbery.

The victim was approached by two men and threatened before having a “high-value” electric bike stolen.

After the incident was reported, police deployed armed officers and drones to determine the location of the suspect.

Since two men, a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old, have been arrested and detained on suspicion of robbery.

Both remain in custody.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Our officers arrested two men yesterday, just hours after a report of a knifepoint robbery.

“We were called to Repton Close in Basildon at around 1:30pm yesterday afternoon, August 8, following reports of a knifepoint robbery where the victim had his electric bike stolen.

“Officers including armed response officers were deployed and drones were lifted to determine the location of suspects.

“A short while later, a man in possession of two electric bikes and matching the description of one of the suspects was detained and arrested on suspicion of robbery.

“Further to this, a second man was spotted by a member of the public hiding and was also arrested.”
