A COMMUNITY day of action is set to take place to clean up an area of Colchester.

The event is coming to St John’s and St Anne’s ward on Wednesday and will be led by the portfolio holder for neighbourhood services and waste, Martin Goss.

The St John’s and St Anne’s community day of action aims to make improvements to the area through litter picking and repainting street signs and residents are invited to get involved and make a difference.

Mr Goss said: “This community day of action is a fantastic opportunity for local people to feel empowered to tackle issues that matter to them and deliver noticeable improvements to their neighbourhood where they're needed most.

“I would urge groups and volunteers to get involved and help make a real difference to their community.”

The event will involve litter picking in Wilson Marriage Road, Barkstead Road, Barnardiston Road, and The Causeway.

There will also be a litter pick in the vicinity of St Christopher’s Road shops.

Attendees will also repaint damaged street signs in Norfolk Crescent, Ripple Way, St Columb Court, St Cyrus Road, Wilmington Road, and Tylehurst Crescent.

Activities will take place at these locations and The Oak Tree Centre in Harwich Road, Colchester.
