FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze near a popular golf club in Colchester.
Fire crews from Coggeshall and Weeley were called to Bakers Lane, Colchester, at 1pm today following reports of a fire.
On arrival, they found a 10m sq area ablaze at the side of a railway track.
A spokesman for the brigade said crews used backpack sprayers and beaters to extinguish the blaze.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.
