A PUBLIC meeting is being held to discuss the future of the rivers in the area.

A panel of some of Maldon’s leaders will discuss what needs to be done to improve the quality of the water in the river Chelmer and the Blackwater estuary.

Maldon MP John Whittingdale will be on the panel with the town mayor Andrew Lay, Dr Robin Price, director of water and the environment at Anglian Water, climate activist and student Hattie Phillips and environmental campaigner Feargal Sharkey.

They will talk about the current state of the water.

The River Chelmer starts at Hemperden End, Essex and ends in the River Blackwater after passing through Maldon.

The meeting is tonight in the Town Hall, Market Hill Maldon starting at 7pm.

Residents are welcome at the meeting and will be able to ask questions at the end of the meeting.
