WORKS are underway on Maldon Splash Park as bosses have shared a new update on their progress.

The first stage of repairs have begun on the Splash Park in the town's Promenade Park, with the removal of the current surface.

This is set to be replaced with a brand-new surface shortly, a spokesman for the park has revealed.

The popular attraction was closed last summer due to "unforeseen circumstances" including staff illness and mechanical issues.

Maldon District Council agreed to allow up to £150,000 to be spent repair works after a report revealed without a new surface the Splash Park would be unable to operate during 2022/23.

The spokesman continued: "We look forward to sharing more details with you as we get nearer to our 2022 season including when, how and where you can visit and purchase tickets."
