PEOPLE from all over Essex gathered in Bradwell-on-Sea to join in with the first Essex Green Weekend in a bid to learn about taking climate action.

It was organised by Othona Bradwell - a self-sufficient, off-grid community which generates its own power and grows much of its own food in Bradwell on Sea - along with Southend's Trust Links, Southend in Transition and the Diocese of Chelmsford.

The weekend saw workshops, live music acts, talks and more, which all leaned towards subjects surrounding working with the environment.

Speakers included those from Trustlinks, Spiralseed, Tearfund, A Rocha, Operation Noah, Green Christian, Christian Climate action, Essex Wildlife Trust and The Climate Coalition.

There were also services in the Chapel of St Peter-on-the-wall organised by Chelmsford Diocese, practical workshops for scything, planting, mindfulness, art and more.

Matt King, CEO of Trust Links, said: "We had a fantastic time at the Essex Green Weekend with more than 150 people coming along to enjoy music, vegan food, talks, workshops and engaging with the beautiful natural environment of the Essex coast.

"We had great feedback from everyone that attended and would love to run the weekend again next year if funding is available.

"The environment and climate have never been more important, and the benefits to mental health and wellbeing are clear.

"Therefore we are delighted that this partnership between Trust Links and Othona gives us the opportunity to bring people together to focus on these crucial issues, build a positive community and share learning about how to take climate action."
