A CHARITY football match is set to raise money for British Red Cross' Ukraine crisis appeal.

Springfield FC will be facing Dobbin's Robbins at Heybridge Swifts FC tomorrow (April 15) in an effort to fundraise for refugees from war-torn Ukraine.

Dobbin’s Robbins is a football club set up in memory of football lover Simon Dobbin.

Mr Dobbin was left with permanent brain damage after being attacked in Southend in March 2015, after Southend United’s match against Cambridge United.

He died in October last year, with a post-mortem examination finding a causal link between his injuries and his death.

Dobbin's Robbins FC's aim is to raise awareness of (and end) football violence.

The club has raised £5,847.10 so far for charities in Mr Dobbin's memory.

Springfield Road FC is also a charity football team made up of staff from HMP Chelmsford.

The match at Heybridge Swifts' Scraley Road Stadium will kick off at 8pm tomorrow.

Our publisher, Newsquest, has launched a fundraiser which has generated in excess of £25,000 to go towards support for those impacted by the war in Ukraine.
