A key road in the heart of Colchester town centre is shut this evening due to a serious incident.
Magdalen Street has been closed by police in both directions between Military Road and Brook Street.
Photos from the scene show the Essex Air Ambulance has been called to the incident, and landed in the nearby Britannia car park.
There is heavy congestion in the town centre as a result of the road closure, which was put in place around 5.45pm.

Essex Police has been contacted for comment.

Essex Police have confirmed a man has died following a medical emergency.
