Lloyds Banking Group is set to close 60 branches around the UK, including one in Colchester.

Another branch in Tiptree is included among those that will close, which will occur later this year.

This decision has been made because Lloyds says it has a greater percentage of customers purely using its online banking services, as fewer people are coming in-person.

Vim Maru, group retail director, Lloyds Banking Group said: “Just like many other high street businesses, fewer customers are choosing to visit our branches.

"Our branch network is an important way for us to support our customers, but we need to adapt to the significant growth in customers choosing to do most of their everyday banking online.”

Lloyds hasn't said how many members of staff are affected by the closures, but added: "We aim to support all colleagues impacted, who want to remain with the Group, with a move to a new role."

Currently the Colchester St Johns Lloyds Bank branch is set to close on September 20, 2022 and the Tiptree branch will shut on July 25, 2022.

These bank closures also encompass the Bank of Scotland and Halifx brands, which fall under the Lloyd Banking Group.

The full list of branches that are closing include 24 Lloyds Bank, 19 Bank of Scotland and 17 Halifax banks.
