A YOUNG woman with a non-curable neurological condition is raising awareness with videos on TikTok.

Ella Louise Middleton has a condition called fixed functional Dystonia which affects the brain and attacks nerves and muscles in the body.

This was caused by an accident she had when she was 11 years old.

The now 23-year-old, who lives in Tillingham, is fully wheelchair bound as the condition affects her mobility.

She also gets chronic fatigue, brain fog and muscle spasms.

However, Ella has never let her condition hold her back and even wants to try to jump out of a plane to raise money for a Dystonia charity.

She tries to fundraise as much as she can towards research into the condition, but she also wants to raise awareness.

This is what motivated Ella to set up a TikTok account last year during lockdown.

She said: “I was going a bit stir crazy as we all were and I thought I would normalise disabilities.

“Being disabled is okay and people with visible or non-visible disabilities shouldn’t be judged by it.

“I’m a woman in a wheelchair who gets judged on a daily basis because I’m in a chair, I thought I’d break the cycle and make the world a more positive place.”

Ella has received an overwhelming response to her account and is now just 4,000 away from hitting the 1million followers milestone.

Being a TikTok influencer has become a full-time job for the young woman and has changed her life.

“It’s not just changed my life it changes other people’s as well and that’s what makes my day when I get messages from people who say ‘you’re an inspiration’ and I’m like, no, you’re the one that’s inspirational,” Ella continued.

“To make someone’s day completes my life.

“My dream is to find a cure for many incurable diseases and to make everyone happy, to make the world a kinder place.

“And my disability is not going to stop me from achieving that dream.”

Ella is going on BBC Radio Essex on Tuesday to further raise awareness of Dystonia and answer listeners’ questions about the condition.
