A councillor will be on hand volunteering her time to help with any visitors' worries around life issues but also the Russia-Ukraine war.

A spokesman for the zoo said while there's not much notice, it is staying open until 6pm so the bosses hope people can pop in after school.

No booking is required.

Anyone who wants to donate is asked to do so on the day or buy tickets to the zoo.

On its Facebook, the spokesmand added: "We are currently carefully looking into the quickest and cheapest way of getting the funds to the right people."
