CORONAVIRUS cases have been falling in all areas in the Maldon district in the past week, according to the latest Government figures.

Working from home and vaccine passports are set to be reviewed next Wednesday with Boris Johnson expected to ditch the Government's Plan B measures.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid has said he is "cautiously optimistic" that Covid-19 regulations can be "substantially reduced" next week.

This comes as an interactive Government map of Coronavirus cases shows a fall in all areas of the Maldon district.

The map displays colour-coded areas in each authority's neighbourhood wards to highlight the severity of its current coronavirus infection rate, from white, yellow and green through to blue, dark purple and black.

The 'blackspots' on the map indicate areas where case rates per 100,000 people are higher than 800.

There is one blackspot in the district, with the rest of the wards dark purple, however all areas have seen a drop in Covid cases in the seven days to January 12, according to the interactive map.

The figures for each area in the district, in the seven days to January 12, are as follows:

  • Southminster, Bradwell & Dengie Peninsula - 84 total cases, 47.2 per cent decrease
  • Mayland, Althorne & Cold Norton - 72 cases, 56.1 per cent decrease
  • Maldon South - 61 cases, 44.5 per cent decrease
  • Maldon North - 41 cases, 58.6 per cent decrease
  • Heybridge - 54 cases, 66.7 per cent decrease
  • Tollesbury, Tolleshunt & Goldhanger - 51 cases, 53.6 per cent decrease
  • Burnham-on-Crouch - 63 cases, 47.9 per cent decrease

The situation is also similar in the areas near Maldon.

In South Woodham Ferrers (SWF) North the Covid cases have dropped 61.7 per cent to 49 total cases.

In SWF South there were 67 total cases in the past week, a 51.8 per cent decrease.

In Danbury & Bicknacre the cases dropped by 43 per cent to a total of 81.
