RESIDENTS are frustrated as Royal Mail staffing issues are causing missed deliveries and delays.

Some of the postal service's Essex depots and offices have been experiencing disruption as bosses have said a mix of illness and Covid means they cannot commit to delivering to certain postcodes in the county everyday.

These delays have affected postcodes across the district.

Many residents have contacted John Whittingdale, the Maldon MP, who says he has been "taking action" to resolve the issues as soon as possible for his constituents.

Mr Whittingdale said: "This has led to many of my constituents having delayed or missing deliveries. I completely understand the frustration of my constituents.

"Since these issues with the Royal Mail began, I have been taking action to try resolve this as soon as possible for my constituents."

The MP first wrote to bosses at Royal Mail and says he stays in regular contact with the company.

"I have also been liaising with my colleague, the MP for Chelmsford Vicky Ford and her team, on how we can resolve this for our constituents collectively," Mr Whittingdale added.

He says Royal Mail assured him it is working hard to return deliveries back to six days a week "as soon as possible".
