Police are appealing for information after a woman was left with life-threatening injuries following a crash.

Officers with Essex Police were called to Dunmow Road, Felsted, just before 2.20pm today following reports of a two vehicle collision.

The crash involved a silver Toyota and a red Ford.

The Toyota driver, a woman aged in her 70s, has been taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Police say the road will remain closed for several hours while an investigation is carried out.

A spokesman said: "Drivers are asked to avoid the area and consider alternative routes.

"If you witnessed the incident, please call us on 101.

"The incident number is 686 of Friday, December 10."
