Drink and drug drivers appear in Essex's lower courts every week.

The offence attracts a compulsory driving ban and usually results in a hefty fine.

These are some of the drink and drug drivers to appear in magistrates' courts in Chelmsford and Colchester.

A MAN who was caught drink driving has been banned from the roads for 19 months.

Mark Harlow, of Church Road, Tiptree, was found to have 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped on October 17.

The legal limit is 35.

At Colchester Magistrates’ Court he was banned from 19 months and fined £500.

He must also pay a victim services fund of £50 and prosecution costs of £105.

A MOTORIST has been banned from the roads for a year and hit with a hefty fine after being caught drink driving.

James Whitelock, 35, of West Street, Coggeshall, was behind the wheel of a Land Rover Discovery in his home town on September 3 while over the legal alcohol limit.

Whitelock was found to have 48mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

The legal limit is 35mcg.

Appearing at Colchester’s Magistrates Court, Whitelock admitted to the offence.

Whitelock was banned from driving for a year, fined £250, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34.

He must also pay costs of £145.

A WOMAN who got behind the wheel while over the drug drive limit has been banned from the roads for 12 months.

Nicole Workman, 29, was found to have 3.9 micrograms of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocan nabinol per litre of blood when she was stopped in Colchester on May 6.

The legal limit is 2 micrograms.

Workman, of Colchester, was given a 12 month ban and fined £120 when her case was heard at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

She must also pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £75.
