Maldon District Council refused the application as it said due to the "quantum of development proposed on the site" alongside the design, scale and bulk and the units proposed would result in "demonstrable harm to the character and appearance" of the site and the wider surrounding area.

The date of the appeal hearing has not yet been set but Maldon District Council has sent out a letter to residents advising them of the appeal.
