AN animal charity has joined forces with a community walking group to raise awareness of the heroic animals who have served in wars.

The National Animal Welfare Trust, in The Street, Little Clacton, is collaborating with Purple Pals for its Remembrance Sunday Sponsored Dog Walk.

The four-mile saunter along the Clacton seafront will aim to generate essential funding for homeless and disregarded animals in need.

It will also serve to honour all of the brave and courageous animals who have taken their place on the frontline of conflict in support of soldiers and their country.

The walk, which will take place on November 14 from 2pm, will start from the Flags Café and see those who take part stroll to Clacton Pier and then back again.

A spokeswoman for the National Animal Welfare Trust in Clacton said: “The aim is to raise awareness of animals who have served and raise money for abandoned animals.

“We would love for participants to get sponsored for their efforts and there will be goodie bags and certificates for all participating dogs.”

Walkers are advised to register to take part in the event prior to the day itself by emailing s.sheppard@nawt.org.uk or calling 01255 860062.
