A TOWN mayor is set to raise vital funds for good causes with a host of charity events.

Maldon mayor David Ogg is inviting residents to join him at his upcoming charity events which promise evenings of entertainment.

The events are in aid of the mayor’s two chosen charities during his year of office – the Sea-Change Sailing Trust and Churches Together.

Mr Ogg will be hosting an opera evening this Saturday at the town hall in Market Hill.

Tickets cost £25 per person, which includes a lasagne dinner and a vegan option is available.

Artists Katie Bingham-Best and Stephen Foster-Pilkington will sing popular arias for guests, including influential works by Gilbert and Sullivan.

Doors open to guests at 6.45pm.

To get tickets call the town council in 01621 857373 or email administration@maldontowncouncil.gov.uk.

The next charity event is set to be an exciting Las Vegas casino night, also at the town hall.

The “fantastic night of magic, roulette and blackjack” on November 13 includes a bar.

Doors open at 7pm with ticket-only entry, which costs £15 and is available online at bit.ly/3Bd89XF.

The entertainment continues into the new year with a charity quiz night on February 4.

Teams of six will compete at the town hall event and will be offered fish and chips while they play, which is included in the ticket price.

For more information and to buy tickets, contact the town council.

The Sea-Change Sailing Trust is an activity centre which provides residential opportunities to disabled, disadvantaged and socially excluded young people.

Churches Together in Maldon became a lifeline in the district during the pandemic, with its voluntary coronavirus community response.
