A FOOTBALL match between police and border force officers has raised essential funding for a cancer charity.

Essex Police Tendring went head-to-head with Border Force at the Little Oakley Football Club in aid of Cancer Research.

The light-hearted game saw the police’s wannabe soccer stars take the lead with an early goal before the team’s goalkeeper pulled off a penalty save.

The Border Force team, however, soon stepped up their efforts scoring three goals to before leaving the pitch after the full-time whistle with a 3-1 victory.

In total the fundraising football match, which attracted a whole host of fans, generated more than £1,000 for Cancer Research.

A spokesman for Essex Police Tendring said: “A great night was had by all the players and spectators with a total of £1,015 being raised.”
