A MALDON radio station is set to host a special high street broadcast with a charity.

Chelmer Radio is enhancing Local Radio Day in Essex by taking itself out into the community for a special outside broadcast.

David Baker will broadcast his show from the Salvation Army charity shop in Maldon High Street from 9am to 1pm on Friday, October 15.

CEO David Baker said: “A huge day local radio day, and the opportunity to actually get out in the area and highlight what local radio means is huge. It also highlights how alive and well it is, despite mergers and shared programming in many areas.”

The station has already been working with the charity in the area.

Kevin Jennings, of the Salvation Army, said: “Our partnership with Chelmer Radio is vital in our promotion of what we do.

“Any time they’ve ever come here to do anything, the impact it has on us is huge and that really highlights why local radio is so important in the community and we are delighted to have Chelmer Radio here on a very special day around the country.”

Chelmer Radio broadcasts online across mid Essex and serves Chelmsford, Witham, Danbury, South Woodham Ferrers, the Dengie, and Maldon.
