A MAN wearing a balaclava and armed with an axe robbed a Co-Op store in Maldon yesterday evening.
Police were informed yesterday at around 9.14pm (September 1) an axe-wielding man had entered a premises in Wood Road, Heybridge.
The man, wearing a balaclava, had forced open a door which hit a woman, causing a minor cut.
He left shortly after with a quantity of cash.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Two people were treated at the scene by ambulance colleagues for a cut and shock.
"The man is described as white, aged approximately 55 years, with bags under his eyes."
Anyone with information, or who may have been driving in the area and has dashcam footage, is asked to call Police on 101 quoting crime reference 42/185874/21.
