PLANS to build four homes in Burnham has sparked a range of concerns from a nearby resident.

The plans submitted to Maldon District Council by Stones Park Development include putting up four homes in Oaklands Stoney Hills and associated work including access and garages.

These plans have been strongly objected by a nearby resident for seven listed reasons including traffic and safety issues.

The objector said: "We have 3 children and walking the children to school is extremely dangerous. Using a buggy is near impossible without putting yourself and child at risk.

"Prior to the over-development of the road walking along the road was manageable as there was little traffic.

"My eldest son has resorted to jumping in ditches to avoid being run over by construction traffic."

They added: "I honestly fear that it is going to take a child, or someone being run down before someone realises this amount of traffic is unsafe. I urge you to monitor Mill Road where it enters Stoney Hills."

They also added that the development of more homes in the area has seen loss of trees and wild hedges, flooding and road access issues.

"Emergency access is a real and valid worry. This development and the traffic it will create once complete will adversely affect highway safety and the convenience of road users and pedestrians."

Maldon District Council will rule on the application.
