COMMUNITY choirs are set to celebrate a return after Covid with a summer festival in Heybridge.

Big Sing runs community choirs for those who have a desire to sing, as well as Tiny Sing groups for babies and toddlers.

Founders Gemma and Howard Francis say they are excited to welcome back their choirs to entertain the community with their uplifting music at a summer festival.

The Big Sing Summer Festival will take place at Heybridge Swifts FC’s Aspen Waite Arena on August 1 from 11am to 4pm.

Proceeds will go to the Big Sing Soul charity to take music into the community with projects in schools, nurseries, care homes, hospitals and vulnerable groups such as Home-Start Essex to improve adult and children’s mental wellbeing through the power of singing.

The fun-filled festival will feature circus acts, pony rides, dance groups, bouncy castles with a play-all-day wristband option, football skills, craft stalls, competitions and a chance for youngsters to meet Princess Elsa.

Charity manager Sandra Cole said: “We are doing our utmost to rebuild after being mainly online for the past 18 months and rehearsing outdoors for the last three weeks.

“We have planned this event as a thank you to our loyal members and their families, and to encourage other people to learn about what we have to offer to our local communities.”

Festival-goers can also enjoy a drink from the Tipsy Grey bar, a barbecue, ice creams and cakes.

Best of all, the day will have lots of singing with the Big Sing choirs.

Tickets are available in advance or on the door at £6 for adults and free for children aged 17 and under.
