A popular Maldon attraction has finally reopened to the public after more than 17 months being closed.

Splash Park in Promenade Park closed during the first lockdown in March last year.

The decision was taken by Maldon District Council to keep the park closed last summer after a specialist company is required to bring the Splash Park back into service after its winter shutdown.

Last month it was revealed work was underway to reopen the park.

Resurfacing works took place in early June with some of the flooring in need of repair following a recent inspection.

But council has now confirmed the park is back open.

A few changes have had to be made to make the attraction Covid compliant.

This includes an online booking systems, new queuing system and one way system and increased cleaning.

In a post on Facebook the council said: “It’s time for the moment you’ve all been waiting for… We are back from July 1 2021!

“Following a 17-month absence, we are pleased to announce that the Splash Park is back from July 1 2021.

“We have been busy behind the scenes over the last few months getting everything ready to welcome you all back safely.
