PLANS have been revealed to build 13 new homes in a village.

Developers want to build on a field opposite the Three Horseshoes pub on the south side of the B1010 Burnham Road in Althorne.

The plans include eight affordable flats and five houses.

The planning application says the new family homes would help address the village's ageing population and support demand for existing services.

It adds: "The development would generally satisfactorily assimilate into the existing countryside, subject to the planting and landscaping proposed.

"Whilst there would be some loss of countryside views facing south, gaps between buildings have been created to retain some views."

Maldon District Council will rule on the application.
