A PRIMARY school is pleased to have had a group if its teachers recognised at a county-wide awards scheme celebrating teaching excellence.

The Essex Teaching Awards group has recognised the teaching staff at Burnham Primary School for their efforts during the pandemic.

Adam Patterson, Tamsin Morton, Alex Russ and Hannah Tavner have been mentioned in the nominations.

The award-winning school is now working towards becoming a centre for excellence under the Government scheme.

Headteacher Kelly Stock expressed how proud she is of the pupils and staff and is appreciative of the many parents and carers who have nominated the school for these awards.

“Support for the school and recognition for what we do has been overwhelming during the pandemic,” she added.

“It is particularly rewarding to be nominated and shortlisted for the work we do and the lengths we go to on a daily basis to ensure our school remains committed to the very best practice, even during the most challenging of years.

Emma Rigler, chair of governors, said: “It’s fantastic that our community values and recognises the exceptional talent at our school.

“Many thanks to the award winners for their extraordinary teaching and to all our staff who enable such a safe, supportive and exciting learning environment.”
